Nonprofit Veteran and Lifelong Golfer to Lead Organization Into Its Next Chapter
Washington, D.C. – August 6, 2026 – First Tee-Greater Washington, DC named Martha Carucci its new CEO. Carucci, formerly Executive Director at Breast Cancer Collective in Alexandria, is a veteran nonprofit executive, avid golfer and longtime local coach. She’ll expand the chapter’s reach across the DMV as it enters its second quarter-century. She started on Monday, August 3.
A lifelong athlete, Carucci also serves as Head Coach of the West Potomac High School Girls Varsity Tennis Team. The combination of nonprofit leadership and hands-on coaching, board members said, made her the right fit to lead the chapter’s next chapter.
“Martha has spent more than a decade turning a small nonprofit into a regional force,” said Tony Kavanagh, Board Chair, First Tee-Greater Washington, DC. “She knows how to raise money, build community, and lead with heart. And she’s a coach at her core. That’s exactly the leadership our participants, families and coaches deserve. We’re enormously grateful to Clint Sanchez for 14 years of extraordinary leadership, and thrilled to see his impact grow at the national level.”
Carucci succeeds Clint Sanchez, who led First Tee-Greater Washington, DC for 14 years before taking on a new leadership role with First Tee’s national organization, where he now oversees 20 chapters across the Southeast region. Under his leadership, the chapter grew from serving 300 young people at three golf facilities in Washington, DC to serving 2,000 young people at 25 golf facilities throughout the Greater Washington area.
“I am excited to join First Tee-Greater Washington, DC, whose mission so closely reflects the values that have guided my life and career,” said Carucci. “Golf is more than a sport – it is a powerful vehicle for building character, confidence, integrity, resilience and lifelong relationships.
